One brick at a time. Lessons I learned from one of fantasy fiction's greatest business minds.

“Greed is your god, Kaz.”
He almost laughed at that. “No, Inej. Greed bows to me. It is my servant and my lever.”

In a nutshell: Heist and Fantasy put together.

Last year I read a fantasy fiction book that has had a lasting effect on me. ‘Six of Crows’ by Leigh Bardugo and also the sequel ‘Crooked Kingdom.’ In a nutshell, it is about six characters who venture off on a heist to achieve a selfish outcome and ultimately save the world from the dangers of a new drug that has the potential to affect the world heavily. A great story that has a depth of backstory and development with each character and a book like any great fiction book with underlying lessons and values that the reader learns.

My favorite character is none other than the famous Kaz Brekker, the leader of the heist going ahead and the one who has the most business smarts in his city, even up against the big players in the game.

I loved his chapters because he had a mind which worked so many steps ahead, and he knows extensively all the laws that govern the commerce in the city he lives in. He also keeps in check different people coming in and out of the city using his ‘spiders’ (spies that gather intel), and he knows what is respected in his line of work and how to gain and lose it.
